Chief William “Bill” Cox began his law enforcement journey some 25 years ago in the streets of Memphis, Tennessee. Not long after, he made the decision to leap across state lines and join the Olive Branch Police Department. After serving our city faithfully for several years, he returned home to Philadelphia, Mississippi, where he later became Chief of Police.
But Olive Branch has a way of calling you back. Chief Cox returned to what he has often called “the best place ever,” accepting the position of Major of Criminal Investigation. Before long, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Police in 2021.
In July of 2022, William Cox was named Chief of Police at the Olive Branch Police Department.
Sadly on Today, Chief Cox delivered his final words to the men and women of the Olive Branch Police Department. His leadership, experience, and steady guidance leave a legacy that will continue to influence this department for years to come.
Chief Cox, thank you for 25 years of dedicated law enforcement service, and for the countless sacrifices made on behalf of the citizens of Olive Branch. We wish you the very best in retirement and in the chapter that lies ahead.
From your family at the Olive Branch Police Department — thank you for your service, leadership, and unwavering commitment.
