Re: 2025-2026 Mayor’s Youth Council Announced
Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams and the City of Olive Branch is proud to announce its expansion of Mayor’s Youth Council from 30 to 68 council members. This year’s council will be composed of 30 Juniors and 38 Seniors- 11 of which are returning for a second year of the program. All council members are residents of the City of Olive Branch from all across the City’s Ward and proudly represent 10 area schools: AOP Homeschool, Cedar Crest Cottage Schools, Center Hill High School, Christian Brothers High School, DeSoto Christian Academy, DeSoto Central High School, Lewisburg High School, Northpoint Christian School, Olive Branch High School, and St. Mary’s Episcopal School.
”We are excited to have the opportunity to expand council this year,” said Mayor Ken Adams. “This gives students the opportunity to learn more about City government in a hands on way while also serving the community; expanding this program is made possible thanks to community partners and the Board of Aldermen’s support of youth government education .”
This council meets twice monthly from September through April. All council members will have the opportunity to attend the Mississippi Municipal League (MML) Statewide Youth Leadership Summit in the Spring of 2026. Students at the end of the program can earn up to 20 hours of community service each year. They are required to attend regularly scheduled council meetings, complete two service projects, and attend a public meeting. Underclassmen are eligible to re-join council their Senior year.
