Fire Department

The Olive Branch Fire Department serves the citizens of the City of Olive Branch, by performing Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Care, Fire Code Enforcement, and Fire Prevention functions in a professional manner. It is to these citizens that the Olive Branch Fire Department is ultimately responsible.

The City of Olive Branch Fire Department proudly protects over 40,000 people living in an area of approximately 60 square miles. We are located in Northeast Desoto County, South of the City of Memphis, Tennessee. We operate out of 5 fire stations that protect residential and commercial areas, as well as one of Mississippi's largest industrial parks. Our department is a public fire department, which is staffed around the clock with professional firefighters and paramedics.

The Olive Branch Fire Department was established in 1955. The Department protects one of the largest municipalities in DeSoto County, Mississippi, with a daytime population exceeding 100,000. We currently carry an Insurance State Rating of Class 4, and the department responds to approximately 5,000 calls per year.

Staff & Stations

The Olive Branch Fire Department consists of 96 frontline personnel and seven staff positions that make up 3 shifts to provide service to the citizens. The department provides Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Service (Advanced Life Support), Hazardous Materials mitigation, as well as Technical Rescue and Fire Prevention. The department is led by Fire Chief Johnny Eason and Deputy Chief Jared Kelly.

The 5 fire stations are made up of 5 engine companies and 2 truck companies, which carry a Lieutenant, a Driver, and at least one Firefighter. These Engines companies all have Advanced Life Support capability as they all have at least one Nationally Registered Paramedic Firefighter assigned to them. Two of the stations also have a ladder truck company that responds to certain types of calls, and 3 of the stations have an Advanced Life Support Ambulance that responds as well.

Staff

Each shift is led by a Battalion Chief, who is responsible for the operations of the department on their shift day. These 3 individuals together have over 80 years of experience between them and are responsible for the mitigation of each and every call for their shift day. Battalion Chief Larry Linville, Battalion Chief Brian Hale, and Battalion Chief Wayne Terry.

Every Firefighter on shift is Mississippi State Certified to the Minimum Standards of National Fire Protection Agency 1001-I-II. These men and women are also trained to be proficient in several areas such as Hazardous Materials, Confined Space Rescue, High Angle Rope Rescue, Trench Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, Structural Collapse Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, as well as Urban Search and Rescue. The department also has several members that are on the Mississippi Task Force 1 USAR team.

Administrative Staff

Fire Administration consists of Executive and Support Staff responsible for all administrative activities including finance, personnel, capital improvements, fire prevention and code enforcement, legislative affairs, public relations, and strategic planning.
