The City of Olive Branch provides a flag drop box at the southeast drive-through of City Hall for worn and tattered American Flags and POW/MIA Flags?
According to the U.S. Flag Code (4 U.S.C. § 8(k)), when an American flag is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be retired in a dignified way - preferably by burning. The POW/MIA Flag, symbolizing our national commitment to accounting for missing military personnel, is also retired respectfully, following similar protocols.
Flags dropped off at City Hall are collected on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays by City Staff that ensures these flags are given the proper retirement they deserve.
