Greetings from Olive Branch, Mississippi! We are proud of our city and my hope is that you take some time to learn more about us and spend some time here. Olive Branch has been a Tree City USA since 2001. Over the past few years, we have received four (4) Keep Mississippi Beautiful awards, two (2) Urban Forestry awards, and I have been named a Green Mayor twice by the Mississippi Urban Forestry Council.

Citizen's Police Academy Class #7

The Olive Branch Police Department will host it’s Citizen's Police Academy Class #7 September 16 through November 18, 2010.

The Citizens Police Academy gives citizens a close look inside the OBPD to see "why officers do what they do". It's designed to give community members an overview of the department's procedures and functions.

Open to DeSoto County residents 21 or older, the free academy will feature once-a-week classes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays about topics including narcotics, DUI and traffic enforcement, investigations and K-9 operations.

Space is limited to around 25 participants for the academy. Click here for an application, or you can pick up an application at the police department at 10470 Hwy 178.

Applicants must pass a background check and have no felony convictions. The deadline for applications is August 25.

Water / Sewer Rate Increase

Utility bills are being mailed that reflect the increases approved by the Board of Alderman on April 6, 2010. Increases were necessary due to increased costs to operate the systems, increased costs to improve the systems in order to meet more stringent enviromental standards, and increased charges to the City of Olive Branch by the Desoto County Regional Utility Authority.

Olive Branch recognized as Tree City

Olive Branch has been recognized by the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City USA for our commitment to urban forestry. This is the ninth year Olive Branch has earned this national designation.
